I never known my mother in law. She died from breast cancer when my husband was just 13. What I do know of her is she was an amazing woman of God, how she loved and served her family the best she could. She was big on tradition, praying over her family, creating the perfect home, and being the best cook she could; things I strive for in my home. She was the cornerstone of her family, and she made it her mission in her life.
As a new wife, I had no experience cooking, no clue how to clean, and I had yet to discover the value of making my house a home. When I burned yet another dinner, I wished I could call her up for encouragement and help. Six years later I'm still learning, but now, more than ever, my thirst for wanting to better myself in the realm of homemaking is the greatest its ever been.
This morning I pulled down the forgotten stack of recipes that Jarrod had of his mothers. After searching through I found not only recipes penned by her hand, but cleaning tips, cooking advice, from cuts of meat to spice types, to how to fix failed meals. I'm beside myself in excitement. Its like having my mother in law with me. I'm excited to try some of these new recipes, put to use these tips, and better myself as a homemaker. Thank-you Joanne for being the mother you were to my husband. Even though he only had you a short time, your wisdom, patience, love, and example you set not only impacted my husbands life, but mine and our children. I can't wait to meet you in heaven!
