2 year hiatus is over!

Ok.. so its been a little while.. long while. Since I was running regularly.. sad I know.. I'm back and better than ever! Ok maybe not better, I'm getting there!
Currently I'm training for a half in Chattanooga, TN the end of February. (the scenic city half marathon) My first race since having Elias. I'm looking forward to get back to racing, and have a little getaway with the fam.
In addition to running (3x a week), I'm also doing to cross training in the form or weight lifting. Nothing heavy at all, as I don't have anything heavier than a 30 pound barbell. I need to get my rear into shape.
I'm trying this whole new approach of actually trying to get really truly healthy. After binge eating like the world was ending over the holidays, its been nice to eat whole, clean, real food. My family seems to like it too. Yay us. Being that we are junk food junkies and we all love sweets, going without has been a challenge.. Lucky for us I've found a few recipes that are yummy and satisfy that sweet tooth. A favorite of ours has become these oh-so-tasty protein bars. And because no one reads this blog, I'm going to share it.. but if anyone actually reads this blog.. its coming down!! (..I'll leave it up... I guess I'll share)

Super yummy protein bars (my source for the pic and recipe)
Makes about 16 bars
1 cup honey
1 cup peanut butter
3 cup oatmeal
1 scoop chocolate whey protein (can use other flavors, but chocolate is money)
5 tablespoon vanilla
handful of chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkle of flax seed whatever tickles your fancy (you can omit still very yummy)

Heat honey and pb in a pan until its consistency is liquidy, add oatmeal and whey protein. Turn off heat add vanilla and any add ins. Pour (or scoop) into a 8x8 baking dish and pat down. Stick it in the fridge until cool and set. Cut into bars, cubes, whatever suits your needs. Then eat..(and try not to eat the whole batch in one sitting..)

Everyone, even my husband loves these.. I've caught him sneaking bite on more than few occasions.. Best things about these, is they are great post run.
