 Today I took my little ones with me for a short run. My 5 year old was super antsy and I could tell she neeeeeeeeeeeded to get some energy out. So we headed out for a "run". We only did about a 1.75 mile run, and it took like 40 mins to do, but my daughter had so much fun. She chatted the whole run, telling me how she likes to run fast, and how she is going to win lots of races. She ended the run dashing to the door, stopping just long enough for me take a picture, then rushing in and grabbing a running medal to wear. Which she proudly wore while eating her pb&j sandwich.
  I loved seeing her joy in running. I look forward to running with her for years to come. Maybe it will be our "thing". Maybe over the years it will be our time to talk. I love how purifying running is, and how when you run with someone, for me at least, it becomes a time of sharing and laughing. How exciting to share that with my daughter! And maybe my son too! He's too young to do anything but happily kick his feet in the stroller now (he does that whole run, like its propelling him forward), but hopefully someday he'll want to join me as well. I love "my time" that  I get while running, but I look forward to the bonding time running can be with my kids.
